CC Scrooge is a ruthless, fabulously wealthy CEO of StoneColdLoans.com, an online payday loan empire profiting off holiday desperation. She extols self-enrichment, mocks sentimentality, despises the poor, and revels in demeaning her assistant, Bobbi Cratchit.
On Christmas Eve, she’s visited by the ghost of her former business partner Marlene—bedazzled in literal chains of her past misdeeds and carrying a lot of sarcasm—who warns her of eternal regret and one last chance.
What follows is a whirlwind visitation by the spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, each revealing the roots of CC’s cold heart, the quiet suffering of her overworked assistant Bobbi Cratchitt and her family, and the grim fate that awaits if CC doesn’t change course.
Through biting humor, 21st-century references, and a powerful emotional arc, CC is forced to confront the person she’s become and the woman she might still choose to be.
